Georges’ Favorites for Fall
When you think of fall you think of Halloween, Thanksgiving and the Holiday Season. I think of the feasts that will be served on the table. The whole idea is to try to find out what will best complement the pumpkin soup, game, potatoes, vegetables, and other types of comfort food.
The red wines at this time of the year are more interesting to drink than the whites. Champagne is also a wonderful match for the Holidays.
My recommendations are:
Roederer Estate
Roederer Estate is a wonderful sparkling wine to start an aperitif. It is also one of my favorite California Sparkling wines. |
Heidsieck Monopole Rose
Heidsieck Monopole Rose is also a nice wine to welcome your guests to your home. It is a very elegant, bubbly Champagne. |
Tandem Chardonnay
Tandem Chardonnay is a typical California Chardonnay, very complex, well-balanced and food-friendly. |
Hermitage (white)
This is a perfect white wine for a mushroom, onion or pumpkin soup. |
Baron de L
This is probably one of the best – if not the best – Sauvignon Blancs that you can find. It is the perfect match with Oysters and all types of shellfish. |
Nuits St Georges Laboure-Roi
This Pinot Noir is also a great match for a warm appetizer. |

Tantara Pinot Noir Pisoni Vineyard is also one of the best Central Coast Pinot Noirs. A very elegant and extremely food-friendly wine. |

Zaca Mesa Black Bear Block Syrah
Zaca Mesa Black Bear Block Syrah is the perfect example of why the Central Coast should plant more Syrah. This wine will be poured at my home for Thanksgiving Dinner. |
